Formed in 2014, the BAD Trio (Brae Grimes, Aaron McCoullough, and Dan Mamrot) share a unique aesthetic based on 90s rock riffs, free jazz, and global rhythmic devices. Their debut studio release, Glen Roy, takes tongue-in-cheek inspiration from the suburb they have called home since the 2020 pandemic.

Sleeper is the new album from Melbourne instrumental quartet Tiger Juice, which blends the genres of jazz, rock, ambience and improvisation. It features long time collaborators Jack Beeche, Tim Willis, Dan Mamrot and Sam Young who may be best known for their work in Tim Willis’ 8-piece rock/ jazz outfit The End. However, Tiger Juice is more than just a pared down version of that band. For their album, Sleeper, each musician brings original compositions and expanded instrumental palettes. Beeche, known for his velvety, melodic improvisations adds live effects and multi-layered saxophones. Willis, known for his grungy rock inspired electric guitar instead opts for a fuzz distorted acoustic instrument. Mamrot, who is usually on guitar, plays a Fender VI, dropping his 6-string down an octave. And Young, expands intricate drum grooves with an assortment of accessories, including the shoe shaker.
